For 2024 the Orinda Woman's Club has chosen the Bay Area Cris Nursery to share, along with the Orinda Woman's Club's Community Service Committee, the proceeds from our annual fundraising event the Festival of Trees.
Established in 1981, the Bay Area Crisis Nursery's ultimate goal is to
ensure that all children are safe, healthy, and thrive emotionally and
physically. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to prevent child abuse and
neglect by providing supportive services to families. All services are free,
voluntary, and confidential. Families who come to them are living in poverty, homeless,
escaping domestic violence, dealing with medical and/or mental health emergencies, or have
suddenly lost their childcare provider. BACN provides the respite care that children need in
stressful situations before abuse occurs.
The Orinda Woman’s Club is dedicated to supporting nonprofit 501©3 organizations with an emphasis on, but not exclusively, women and children, that serve Contra Costa and Alameda counties, while focusing on Orinda and neighboring cities. The amount of funds distributed each year depends upon the monies raised. In 2023 Orinda Community Service Committee received half of the proceeds from Festival of Trees as well as individual donations.
